The Capitals Welcome the Anaheim Ducks

It’s the last game for the Washington Capitals before the Holiday break, and they welcome home a few friends. Near the end of September Matthieu Perreualt  was traded to the Anaheim Ducks. loved by almost everyone it was sad to see Perry leave. But it’s not only Perreualt who is coming home. The Capitals welcome back former head coach, Bruce Broudreau.  Bruce lead the team to a 201-88-40 over parts of five seasons, leading the Capitals to four Southeast Division titles.The Capitals players admit that they, and Washington, owe him a lot.


Capitals forward Brooks Laich said “What he [Broudreau] did for hockey in Washington was tremendous,” “He put it front and center. Exciting offense, developed the players into the stars they are today. I think the town really owes him a lot.”

The Capitals will need to put their feelings aside to get back into the win column. The Ducks are the hottest team in the league right now posting a record of 8-0-2 in their last 10 while the Capitals are only 6-2-2 of their last 10. The Capitals will have a tough time controlling the offensive powerhouse led by Ryan Getzlaf. The Anaheim Ducks currently have two players among the top 10 of the leagues highest goal scorers, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

The Capitals will go with the youngster in net, Philipp Grubauer, and Brooks Laich will skate on the 4th line tonight.
