The Rangers Are Back In Town

The New York Rangers and Washington Capitals continue their rivalry on Friday. It’s their third meeting this season. Both the Rangers and Capitals have one win in their last two games against each other. The last time they met the Rangers had to deal with a new goalie in net for the Capitals, Philipp Grubauer. Grubi made his 2nd NHL start of his career against the Rangers in a 4-1 win on Dec 8th. Grubi stopped 31/32 SA and posted a .968 SV%.

the Capitals are only 4 points ahead their division rivals and look to increase that margin. The Capitals have dropped three of their last five. The Rangers have won three of their last five and look to climb closer to taking second place in the Metropolitan division.

The Capitals were shutout three straight games against Henrik Lundqvist until Dec. 8th when the Capitals figured out the Swedish goaltender. The Caps will have to start fast and get Verizon Center loud to continue the scoring against Lundqvist.

The Capitals haven’t named their starting goal tender, but expect to see Braden Holtby in the net.
