PREVIEW: Rangers vs Capitals.

CAPITALS (22-18-8) at RANGERS (26-21-3)

The Washington Capitals look to get back in the win column in New York against their divison rival the New York Rangers. The Washington Capitals are 2-4-4 in their last 10. The Rangers on the other hand are 7-2-1. Despite a horrid start from the Rangers they find themselves in a prime playoff spot, where the Capitals seem to have slipped out of one. The Capitals enter the night 5th in the Metropolitan division, and 10th in the conference.  The Rangers are 6th in the conference and 3rd in the Metropolitan. this is their third meeting of four this season. The Capitals have won two in a row while the rangers have only one win against the Capitals this season.

The Rangers have leaned on steady goal-tending to secure wins of late. Henrik Lunqvist is finding his old grove again. Henrik has only posted a .914 SV% this year and 2.58 GAA. The Swede, in his last 4 games, has posted an impressive .988 sv% and posted a shutout against the Red Wings on the 16th. The Rangers will look to Rick Nash to keep his goal scoring hot. He has scored 5 goals in his last 7 games.

The Capitals have lost four in a row. Their most recent was a 5-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Capitals are spiraling out of the playoff race. With only three wins since December 27th the Capitals are left to wonder what is going on. The Capitals have switched goalies almost every game of recent. Their latest start was Philipp Grubauer who was pulled in the 1st period after allowing three goals. The Capitals will look to end this skid with an important win over the division rival.
