PREVIEW: Capitals Look To End Skid In New Jersey.

CAPITALS (22-20-8) at DEVILS (21-19-11)

The Washington Capitals travel to New Jersey to take on their division rivals the Devils at Prudential Center. The Capitals look to get back on track with a win. They have lost 6 in a row and dropped from 3rd in the metropolitan division to 6th.  This is their second meeting of four, in their first game against each other the Devils won 5-4. The Devils are coming off a monstrous win on Tuesday. The Devils beat the fourth best team in the league, St. Louis Blues, in a decisive 7-1 victory.

The Devils are looking to continue the Capitals losing streak on Friday. New Jersey is currently sitting one point out of a playoff spot. The Devils are 4-3-3 in their last 10. The New Jersey Devils will take on the New York Rangers on Sunday outside at Yankee Stadium. The Devils will want to go into the game with a winning streak, they will look to stay hot against this deflating Capitals team. Cory Schneider hasn’t lost in regulation in his past 5 games,     3-0-2. Cory has posted a .926 SV% and has a 1.88 GAA.

The Washington Capitals lost their 6th game in a row on Tuesday night against the Ottawa Senators. They were without captain and league leading goal scorer Alexander Ovechkin. Ovechkin also didn’t practice on Thursday morning with the team, he is currently doubtful for Friday’s match. Washington cannot afford another loss to a division rival. The Capitals are only two points out of the 8th playoff spot, which is currently held by the hottest team in the league the Columbus Blue Jackets. Without Ovechkin in the lineup on Tuesday night the Capitals didn’t score a goal against Ottawa. They will most likely be without him again on Friday night.
