PREVIEW: Jackets vs Capitals

CAPITALS (24-21-8) at BLUE JACKETS (26-23-4)

It’s the Capitals vs the Jackets. Two teams that are fun to watch collide 8 days before the Olympics! The Columbus Blue Jackets are having one of their best seasons yet. Columbus recently lost to the Buffalo Sabres snapping an 8 game winning streak. During the streak the Jackets clobbered the Capitals 5-1. This is fourth and final time these division foes clash. The the Jackets look to even the series at two a piece.  Sergei Bobrovski is the real story of this teams success. Last years Vezina trophy winner is making a good case to win the trophy back-to-back years.

The Jackets have lost three in a row after winning eight in a row. In all three loses the Jackets have scored only 2 goals, and have allowed an average of 3.5 GAA. The Jackets will look to to snap the losing streak and climb two points ahead of the Capitals. The Jackets will lean on Sergei Bobrovski. Sergei has posted a .913 SV% and a 2.61 GAA.

The Capitals are on a different note ( I wrote the opposite the last time these two teams met) The Capitals have won two after losing eight straight. The Capitals recently got back their captain Alexander Ovechkin from an injury. Alex has scored three goals in his last two games, two coming in a 5-4 OT win over Buffalo. Alex has also tallied three assists. Six points in his last two games. The Capitals look to climb back into a playoff spot with a win over Columbus Thursday night.
