The deal has been done, the terrible run as a Capital for Marty Erat is over. Erat was acquired by Washington at the trade deadline of last season. However, Erat failed to play the top 6 minutes he felt he was deserved. This was mostly because he has only scored 2 goals in a Washington uniform, one was an empty netter. Washington is set to receive Defenseman Rostislav Klesla, Chris Brown (no not that Chris Brown), and a 2015 4th round draft pick. Phoenix receives Erat and AHLer
Garrett Mitchell (or John Mitchell sources are not sure)
The Capitals and the Coyotes have been in talks about Klesla and Erat since January. Klesla is a lot more than what some people thought Erat would attract. Neil Greenberg believed a fourth round pick and 25% of contact retained would have been the most he could attract. Klesla brings that left-handed defenseman that Washington has needed. He is a shutdown defenseman when he is healthy.
Chris Brown is in his second season in the AHL. In his first season he had 29 goal, 18 assists. John Mitchell was part of the Mathieu Perrault trade earlier this season.
In my opinion it would be great to see Klesla paired with Green, and Orlov moved to 3rd D-pair.
