PREVIEW: Livin’ it up at the Hotel California

Capitals (32-27-10) vs Ducks (45-16-7)

Tonight, the Capitals embark on a three game road trip to California visiting three different teams. First the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, the Kings on Thursday, and the Sharks on Saturday. What do all of these teams have in common? They make up three of the top eight teams hailing from the west. So this will be an easy road trip, right? (please say yes)

The Caps skipper Adam Oates will be making some major changes to the line-up tonight and they are weird; really weird.

  • Jay Beagle will be making an appearance on the top line centering Alex Ovechkin and Marcus Johansson
  • Evgeny Kuznetsov has been promoted to the second line alongside Nicklas Backstrom and Troy Brouwer
  • Dustin Penner has been demoted to the fourth line and will try to do some damage against his old team with Tom Wilson and Casey Wellman
  • The first line third line has remained untouched

Here are the lines per Katie Carrera:

Johansson – Beagle – Ovechkin

Kuznetsov – Backstrom – Brouwer

Chimera – Fehr – Ward

Penner – Wellman – Wilson

And the Defensive pairs:

Alzner – Carlson

Hillen – Green

Orlov – Wey

Halak in net (for the sixth straight time)

That leaves the healthy scratches as John Erskine and Connor Carrick.
